Telemetry ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data.
1. Information We Collect
Location Data
We collect your device location, including in the background, to record trips, calculate distance and speed, and generate trip summaries.
Motion Data
We use motion sensors such as the accelerometer and gyroscope to detect driving events such as acceleration, braking, and turns.
Device Information
This may include device model, OS version, app version, and technical identifiers.
Trip Data
Information generated during trips may include routes, driving metrics, and performance scores.
Website Analytics
When you visit drivetelemetry.com, we use a first-party, self-hosted analytics system to understand how the website is used. It can measure page views, sessions, navigation between pages, active time on pages, scroll depth, referral source, campaign parameters (UTM), browser/OS/device category, browser language, time zone, and — when available from our local network infrastructure — a coarse country code.
The website analytics system does not set analytics cookies and does not use localStorage or sessionStorage. The analytics database does not store raw IP addresses. The connection IP address and browser user-agent may be processed transiently by our server to generate a pseudonymous identifier used to estimate unique visitors and sessions. Standard web-server security logs may separately contain ordinary request information such as IP address, request time, and requested URL.
Analytics data is used only to understand and improve the Telemetry website and is not sold or used for cross-site advertising. Browser Global Privacy Control / Do Not Track signals are respected by the website analytics script where supported.

We do not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking. We do not sell your personal data.
3. Permissions
- Location (When In Use / Always) — required to record trips and detect driving activity, including when the app is in the background.
- Motion & Fitness — used to detect driving behavior and improve trip analysis.
4. Background Location Usage
Telemetry collects location data in the background to automatically detect and record trips, even when the app is not actively in use.
5. Data Retention
We may retain data only as long as necessary to provide the service. Website analytics records are configured to be retained for up to 180 days, after which they are automatically deleted.
6. Account Deletion
You can request account deletion directly within the app. After deletion, your account is deactivated and personal data associated with the account is removed or anonymized in accordance with applicable requirements.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data from unauthorized access.
